Via ferrata Located in Saint Pierre d'Entremont in Savoie, in the middle of the Chartreuse regional natural park, between Grenoble Lyon and Chambéry, the Via ferrata Roche Veyrand is a full day Via ferrata in Saint Pierre d'Entremont with 2 parts, an easy first part and a harder and impressive second part.

The first part is the easiest: dizzying but without big difficulties, with some passages on beam and beautiful climbs on a nice limestone. The colored rock is of high quality, a very compact white / blue limestone crisscrossed by gullies and "Lapiaz" offering numerous holds for a fun climb.

The second part of the via ferrata of Roche Veyrand is the the most dizzying : We will climb the large footbridge of "Pas de la Frousse", and the Nepalese bridge "Pont des Balmes", then large vertical parts in the middle of a compact cliff.
The route is daring and it looks like of the great climbing routes. Halfway up, there are even two slight overhangs to cross! Dizzying atmosphere guaranteed in the heart of the Chartreuse, between Chambéry and Lyon.

To access the beginning of the via ferrata trail at Roche Veyrand, you need to walk uphill for 40 minutes.
From the top of the via ferrata, plan for a 1-hour and 15-minute return hike.

Yes, depending on your level and your needs, it is easy to ensure you safety in these climbing areas.
Is this route suitable for a first via ferrata?
It is a long route with a good approach walk, overhanging climbing sections, and an airy atmosphere. It is therefore possible to do the Via Ferrata de la Roche Veyrand as a first via ferrata, but you need to be athletic to last the day, and ideally have already done some climbing (indoors or outdoors).

Must-do near La Roche Veyrand Via Ferrata
Between Grenoble and Chambery, on the Chartreuse Eastern Side, in Alloix canyon you’ll abseil down several waterfalls in a row. This canyon has in particular a beautiful 150 ft high waterfall, a waterslide in an outstanding landscape.
This one won’t let you cold: 20mn from Grenoble and you’ll think you are in the middle of Amazonia Forest. Let’s go, be surprised!
